Masks in silence by Structuur van Koper

In this work, abstract masks form a silent dialogue. What at first glance appears to be a play of flowing lines and organic surfaces reveals multiple faces upon closer inspection. The masks touch each other, but each looks in a different direction. The image moves between closeness and distance, between connectedness and isolation. The shapes are deliberately kept soft and rounded. There are no sharp corners or hard lines. Everything flows, shifts and overlaps. It is precisely in these overlaps that new forms emerge, which are not immediately noticeable but give the work a sense of layering. The warm, calm background creates space and reinforces the feeling of silence.

The masks refer to what is visible and what remains hidden. To moments when people are close to each other, but do not see or experience the same thing. Without imposing a fixed narrative, the work leaves room for personal interpretation.

The atmosphere is subdued and calm, with a subtle tension that keeps the image alive. This makes the work a good fit for an interior where tranquillity and depth can coexist, such as a living space, workplace or quiet corner. What you see changes with your attention.
