Mechelen city hall.
Mechelen is a city in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The city is located in the south of the province, centrally located between Antwerp and Brussels on the river Dijle.
Located on the Grote Markt in Mechelen are the buildings in this photo. It is the beautiful and unique town hall, which consists of three parts, each with a different year of construction and architectural style. On the left is the Palace of the Grand Council. This building was built in 1526 with the intention of holding the meetings of the Grand Council there.
The middle section is known to have the Belfry's bell tower listed by UNESCO.
The right section is the Cloth Hall which dates from the 14th century and was used for trading textile products.
Since 1914, the three buildings together have served as the town hall.
This photo was taken on 15 March 2025 from the tower of St Rombouts Cathedral.
