In the center of Leiden stands the mill de Put. In this work, one can see the mill over the water of the Morssingel. In the foreground, spring flowers are trying to bloom in a little garden. In the little garden there is also a beautiful birdhouse. The photo was taken on a sunny day in March 2022 and can be ordered in both color and black and white.
About the city of Leiden: Leiden is an old city with a lot of history. The undisputed oldest part is the Burcht which dates from 1150. Probably the castle is much older and possibly there was a defensive structure as early as around 450 AD. The Old Rhine River flows through Leiden and discharges further on into the sea. Thanks to the cloth industry, Leiden was one of the largest cities in the Northern Netherlands from the late Middle Ages until the 17th century. Leiden was also the site of the first protestant church, the Marekerk, with its round dome.
