The squirrel is 20 to 28 centimeters long and 250 to 350 grams heavy. The bushy bushy tail is from 15 to 20 centimeters long. It is an omnivorous, which belongs to the rodents.
Unlike the name suggests, the color can vary from black to yellow, with all kinds of shades of red and brown in between. Melanism occurs, but the degree to which individuals are melanistic differs per region. Usually the animals are reddish brown with a white belly side, in winter more gray dark brown. The color also becomes greyish as the squirrel grows older. The ear plumes fall especially in the winter. A squirrel can put the hair on the bushy tail.
