About the artwork
A highly detailed black and white print of Common Ostrichgrass. The botanical name is Agrostis Capillaris.
I go into nature to find leaves and flowers, looking for plants with a lot of texture or special shapes. With special printing ink and other materials, I make a print of the plant. Every time, I am surprised by how much detail is visible. Each print is unique, because you can only make a print of the plant once. I then digitise this print using photography.
In 2023, I was not feeling very well, and lots of walking in nature certainly helped me. I also started doing watercolours and monoprints. Creativity makes me very happy. I sometimes send my works as cards by post or give away an original print as a gift. It makes everyone so happy, which is why I hope to make more people happy with my prints through Werk aan de Muur.
Personally, I like this print best when framed, in a wooden frame, for example, to emphasise nature.
