Kröv is a town in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, and is part of the rural district of Bernkastel-Wittlich
Kröv was an imperial village in the Middle Ages. Close to the town is an old fortress, called Mont Royal. The fortress was built in 1687 by order of Louis XIV. The fortress had room for 12,000 men and 3,000 horses. Shortly after its construction, the fortress was destroyed again; by the French themselves, no less. Very few traces of the fortress remain. Today, a large holiday park has been built close to the traces of the fortress, as a result of which Kröv and its surroundings continue to be a tourist attraction.
