Bromo is a volcano on the island of Java, Indonesia. At 2329 metres, it is certainly not the highest mountain in the region, but its location is considered special. Along with two other volcanoes, the volcano lies in a sandy sea measuring 8 by 10 kilometres. Bromo is part of the Tengger massif and is located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park located in East Java.
A popular activity is watching the sunrise from the edge of the Bromo crater, We were not the only ones then, but the view is breath-taking. Getting to the plateau is quite an adventure. Locals deploy old 1970s Toyota jeeps to transport tourists to the top.
I have been photographing since my youth. When I was 18 I bought a second hand Minolta XE-5 and after that I bought more. I have always been loyal to Minolta and later Sony. All the cameras and lenses I ever bought I kept.
