This enchanting and mysterious forest landscape was taken in the late afternoon of 30 December 2022 in Hubertushöhe in the district of Storkow(Mark). I used the remaining hours of the year that was drawing to a close for a relaxing walk in the hilly mixed forest with tall, elegant pines and graceful birch trees.
The town of Storkow (Mark) lies in the western part of the Oder-Spree district. It borders on the Amt Spreenhagen to the north, the Amt Scharmützelsee and the district-free municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf to the east, the district-free municipality of Tauche to the southeast, the district-free municipality of Märkische Heide and the Amt Unterspreewald to the south, the Amt Schenkenländchen to the southwest, and the municipality of Heidesee (the latter five territorial units in the Dahme-Spreewald district) to the west and northwest. Storkow (Mark) lies on the (Great) Storkow Lake, to the east of the town is Lake Scharmützel, to the south the Lower Spree Forest and to the west the Dahmeland. In the southeast, Storkow's territory extends to Lake Schwenow and Blabbergraben.
