Detail shot of the bark of a rainbow eucalyptus. The scientific name of this tree is Eucalyptus deglupta. The bark shows a distinctive pattern of flaking layers in various colours. The different colours occur because the bark peels off in layers and exposed portions discolour over time.
I took this photo on Bacolod Island in the Philippines, where this tree is found in its natural habitat.
