About the artwork

This fascinating picture shows an abandoned room in which nature is slowly gaining the upper hand. An old hoover standing in the centre of the room seems like a strange, silent witness to a time when this room was still inhabited and cared for. But now the picture has changed: The once smooth leather couch is covered in a layer of dust and damp, and tendrils of ivy and other plants have crept into the room through the window to reclaim the dilapidated space.

The brick wall in the background bears clear signs of decay, and the sunlight streaming through the window illuminates the dense green leaves covering the floor and furniture. Nature seems not only to have conquered the space here, but also to have frozen time itself - the hoover stands as a reminder of the last attempt to halt the decay before the place was finally abandoned.

The interplay between the remnants of human civilisation and the unstoppable power of nature conveys a strong symbolic message: even in the most abandoned corners of a building, nature will eventually triumph. The image evokes feelings of transience and melancholy, while the living vegetation creates a contrast to the decay of the space.
