Mount Cook (in Maori Aoraki) is the highest mountain in New Zealand. The mountain is named after the British sailor James Cook. James also discovered New Zealand on behalf of Great Britain.
Another captain (Capitain Stokes) named this mountain after James Cook. Stokes mapped out New Zealand and named the mountain Mt. Cook. The mountain is a huge tourist attraction, because this mountain is from miles away (as on this picture). This picture was taken at Lake Pukaki. One of the most impressive, blue and cold lakes of New Zealand. The picture was taken near our camp-spot, with the same magical view!
