In this picture, I placed a young lamb at the centre, in an open meadow. It walked towards me curiously, and I made grateful use of the moment to focus on both simplicity and beauty. The animal stands right in front of the camera, as if aware of its role in this serene scene. The way the light illuminates the lamb's soft wool creates a sense of warmth and freshness, as if the day has just begun and life is yet to fully unfold.
In the composition of the picture, I made use of the open space as much as possible. The lamb is right in the middle, enhanced by the blurred background, where a few sheep graze peacefully, a faint barn is visible, and trees in the distance frame the scene. The background is subtle enough not to distract attention from the subject, but still adds context to the surroundings. Although the meadow was not super large, it feels like we captured an intimate moment in the vastness of the countryside.
Only natural light is present in the photo. The sun casts a soft, diffuse glow over the grass and lamb, highlighting the textures of both the animal and the landscape.
I wanted to elevate a simple moment from farm life into a beautiful composition. With the soft lighting, the subtle background, I wanted above all to convey a sense of harmony and calm.
For me, the image had to feel modern and timeless at the same time. Although the subject is mundane, I tried to give it a fresh execution. For me, the composition, the use of light, and the subtle details are a snapshot reminding us of the beauty of nature and the peace it can offer.
