In 1850, the instruction battalion came to the barracks and in 1877, the 'main course', the officers' course was moved to the present building. The construction of the school building in 1874 is related to the arrival of this course in 1877. The barracks at this time are called "Barracks of the Instruction Battalion". The name "Van Heutz, follows only in 1938, after General Van Heutsz, the most famous general trained in the barracks
