This bird was photographed somewhere in Iceland.
The northern tern is a distinct migratory bird, breeding in the northern hemisphere and wintering in the southern hemisphere. Every year it flies about 70,000 km. In the Netherlands it is a rare breeding bird, but it occurs throughout the Arctic and Antarctic region.
They are known for their aggression towards people or animals that come too close to the nest. Then they attack by pecking on the head of the intruder and stabbing him/her with excrement.
