Along the Dutch coast, where the sea meets the land, an almost vanished beach entrance offers a glimpse into the power of nature. The drifting sand has almost completely covered the wooden steps and posts, while marram grass clings firmly to the undulating sand. The rise seems to disappear into the dunes, as if nature is taking back its space.
Yet this dynamic play of wind and sand is essential for coastal conservation. The dunes are constantly growing and changing, providing natural protection from the sea.
