Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.

About ‘Octopus sp.’ by Enak Cortebeeck

Diving with a macro lens means making a choice before you even go underwater.

You are choosing to focus on small details, small life and texture. It also means that if you come across something huge and impressive, like this octopus, your photographic options are limited — but not non-existent.

My underwater photography is centred on texture: getting close, within a few inches, and photographing the tiny details you might otherwise never notice. And what could be a better example than the incredibly detailed, ever-changing skin of an octopus?

Another advantage of choosing a macro lens? Once you are in the water, there is no FOMO. You cannot change lenses. I took my shot, and then let the octopus do its thing — moving from shelter to shelter, shifting colours and textures in a split second.

And I simply enjoyed it. The photographer in me sat back, and the wondrous diver took the wheel. I spent a good five minutes just studying this remarkable creature’s behaviour, and it was a true joy.

Enak Cortebeeck

Antwerpen, Belgium

ENAK CORTEBEECK is an Antwerp-based art director and designer, working in film, television, children’s media, user experience and socio-cultural campaigns. He has worked for clients including the BBC, Warner Bros., the European Union and De Filistijnen.

As well as his work as a designer, Enak is an underwater photographer. In his images, he explores texture, colour and the silent geometry of coral ecosystems.
