For about a decade, I travelled around Europe photographing abandoned buildings. Some of these buildings were factories, where the smell of grease and oil still hung in the air. Wall paint did not yet exist, whitewash did. These walls have lived, layer upon layer applied, worn away and another layer applied. Grey when wet, snow-white…
