About ‘On Amsterdam's canals’ by Iris van Heusden

An Amsterdam canal unfolds like an 'Old Master'. Among the warm colours and hushed composition, only the cars'betray that the image is set in the present.

I am always inspired by the paintings of the Old Masters, I find the atmosphere, colours and light fascinating! I try to emulate this in my photography.

My work is composed of several carefully composed photos'fused into one new image.
Because of this combination, the work is completely original and not available anywhere else.
My special editing technique of my photos's makes it seem as if you are looking at a painting.

My name is Iris van Heusden, born in Amsterdam and living in Oirschot. For me, photography is an expression of my creativity. In every photograph I take, I am inspired by the work of the 'Old Masters'. I find the light, the atmosphere shown in their works phenomenal. I try to emulate those. Them brush for me is my camera, and with the processing I apply to the photos, the photo ultimately looks like a painting.
