About ‘Oosterstraat in the Golden Hour’ by Stadspronk

In this painting, we see the Oosterstraat, one of the oldest streets in Groningen, bathed in the warm light of the golden hour. At the end of the street, the Martinitoren rises proudly, like a beacon of history that has guarded the cityscape for centuries. The composition is executed in the distinctive style of The Painted City: an interplay of thick brushstrokes, warm colours and a textural atmosphere that enters immediately.

The street winds through the work like a living ribbon, flanked by characteristic facades full of details. Every stone seems carefully set, every shadow deliberately placed.
