A small town in the east of the Netherlands in a region called Twente. It is a picturesque little town. A town indeed because it really does have city rights and has since 1300. It buzzes with life, especially when the weather is nice. It is also called "Siepelstad" a nickname thus. That nickname is also given to the annual and thus equally named market. Easter is celebrated here in a special way, by the "Poaskearls", the Easter committee, who 'walk around the church early in the morning and 'in the afternoon, singing Easter songs. The inhabitants are then invited to walk hand-in-hand, in a long line, through the town, which is then called "Vlöggeln". On Easter Monday, the same thing happens again. Ootmarsum is an art town. As such, it has many galleries and several museums. A well-known artist was born and raised here and has left a clear artistic but also economic mark on the town. His work and much in this abstract, cityscape has mainly taken on the colours red, blue, cyan, white and black.
As an artist, I like to enter a colorful world especially the world of flowers. This colourful and so positive world appeals to me enormously. Flowers spread a positive atmosphere because of the colors and the beautiful and diverse shapes and one can never get enough of that!.. Read more…
