An unlikely oasis in the heart of the city, Chi Lin Nunnery is not only one of the city's most important Buddhist shrines, but is also considered an impressive architectural feat. Reflecting traditional aesthetics and architecture from the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the complex is the first in Hong Kong to be built without the use of a single nail. After exploring the nunnery, be sure to visit the adjacent Nan Lian Garden, a beautifully landscaped park with several permanent exhibits and even a vegetarian restaurant located under a man-made waterfall.
