About the artwork
The approximately two-kilometre-long Oudegracht cuts through the entire city centre from south to north. On the northeast side of the Gaard bridge are the Light and Dark Gaard. These street names are derived from the Utrecht bishop's orchard that was located here in the Middle Ages. MAGAZINE "de VLIJT" now houses the jewellery shop Culture Mix, with its entrance on Lijnmarkt.
The photo was taken at dusk on 8 December 2012, Dark Utrecht. That's the name of my series of photos of Utrecht places after sunset. Most Dark Utrecht photos were shot at dusk.
