About the artwork

Paloemeu (sometimes also spelt Palumeu) is an indigenous village where mostly people from the Trio and Wayana people live. A very small group of Aparai also live there. The village had 283 inhabitants[1] in 2020, the majority of whom speak Wayana. Paloemeu is located in the Tapanahony resort in the south of the Suriname district of Sipaliwini. Paloemeu is located where the eponymous Paloemeu river merges with the Upper Tapanahony. From this place, both rivers form the Tapanahony River.
