From the heights of Borobudur temple, the view stretches along a majestic avenue lined with tropical trees, leading to the main entrance of the sanctuary. This perfectly symmetrical perspective illustrates the importance of spiritual geometry in Buddhist architecture: each path, each level of the temple symbolises a step towards enlightenment.
Under a cloud-laden sky, visitors move slowly forward, protected from the sun by their colourful parasols, in a calm, meditative atmosphere. The lush, soothing natural surroundings envelop the site in an aura of serenity.
In the background, the volcanic mountains of Java rise up to the horizon, reminding us of the power of the elements and the profound link between spirituality and nature.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is much more than a monument: it is a place of reflection, peace and harmony where man and the earth seem to breathe in unison. The beauty of the landscape further enhances the spiritual grandeur of the world's largest Buddhist temple.
