Montparnasse's Hemingway terraces are full. Waiters deftly walk past all the tables with trays full of cool drinks. The summer sun casts long shadows in the city.
The white shirt and white apron, trimmed with the black waistcoat gives the waiters that classic Parisian look. An image looms from the heyday of the 19th century, where they served the many artists in the Grand Cafés.
As I continue walking through the streets, letting all the images tantalise me, I see this waiter. Great head, tough look, cigarette in hand. The shadow of his stature draws on the snow-white wall. For a moment, he is a movie star on the silver screen.
