"Pastel: Astrantia Major faded" is an (extreme) macro photo of a small part of an Astrantia Major (Zeeland Knot). Because only a small part of this little flower was photographed, natural abstraction takes place. With the naked eye, you can't see these "little flowers" (which in reality are not real flowers, but the heart of the Astrantia Major) as well as you can in the photo. When making this photo, I chose to use a low focus, which creates a dreamy atmosphere, which I think suits this pastel-coloured scene perfectly. It also creates a sense of depth in the work. Only the front "flowers" are in focus (at the very bottom left corner) and the further you go from this point the Astrantia Major (Zeeland Knotweed) fades. This work could hang beautifully in a waiting room, bedroom or study. But it would also look great above the sofa in the living room ©Marjolijn van den Berg
