This piece began as an exercise in shape stacking: circles, leaves, a single flower. When I added the drop-stripes at the bottom, it immediately felt looser-as if paint had slipped off the table. The pink flower holds everything together; the palm feather and monstera give a little holiday feel without becoming postcard.
I worked with semi-opaque layers, so colours whisper softly through each other. The yellow circle is deliberately bright, like a sun just emerging from behind the cloud. The result is playful, but not garish. This work is from the Pastel Flora series.
At home, this hangs well in a bright living room or a kitchen with plants in pots. Also nice in a workplace: enough energy to start your day, but quiet enough not to disturb. My own favourite detail is the small edge of shadow where circle and leaf touch-that mini-moment depth.
