About ‘Pattern in the sand, San Sebastián’ by Urban Archive

I took this photo on the beach at San Sebastián in March 2025. In the foreground lies a large circular pattern in the sand, clearly defined and standing out sharply against the flat beach.

The pattern immediately catches the eye and forms the central element of the image. Surrounding it is an open expanse of sand, with small groups of people scattered about, moving across the beach. In the background lies the city along the bay, with buildings rising up the hillside.

The composition of the image is clear: the beach takes up the largest part, whilst the town and the sky form a narrow strip at the top. Due to the cloudy weather, the colours remain calm and even, making the pattern stand out even more.

For me, this image is about the contrast between something man-made and the natural environment. The pattern is precise and controlled, whilst the rest of the beach remains open and undefined. It is a clear, uncluttered image that works well in an interior where you want to add a distinct focal point without it becoming overwhelming.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
