About ‘Pebbles in the fog’ by Nadia Feys

In this work, you see stones - solid, weathered, full of texture - lying quietly in the water while a hazy mist envelops them. The mist seems to blur the boundary between stone and water: where the hard contours end, the veil begins, giving the scene an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The water is silent, enveloping, and the stones stand out only through subtle lighting and contrast, as if emerging from the mist as silent witnesses of time and silence.

The light is soft and diffused - not a bright sun, but rather a diffuse glow filtering through the mist. This ensures that the stones do not "scream" sharply, but rather whisper: the grooves, the veins in the stone material, the wet sheen - everything becomes visible in a subtle way. The background is vague, undifferentiated, which gives the image space and draws attention to the quiet foreground.

The atmosphere is contemplative: a moment of seclusion in nature, where time slows down, where breath and silence come together. The stones, solid and tangible, in the middle of the nothing-visible of the fog, give a metaphorical image of strength and vulnerability, of existing in the world and at the same time of surrendering to the invisible.
