American meteorologists are still in awe of the 'no-name storm'. According to Dave Epstein, who reported on the weather for a local television station, it was three storms in one: "Initially it was a hurricane that had almost calmed down. There was an old, frontal disturbance ahead. Then all of a sudden, winds picked up over the Great Lakes. When it arrived over the Atlantic Ocean, it gave new energy to the first two. And so a new hurricane of destruction was born. It whipped up the sea with winds of up to 193 kilometres per hour.
