De Groot or de Molen van Piet is an eight-sided tower mill corn mill in the Dutch city of Alkmaar. The mill was built as a wall mill on the Clarissenbolwerk near the former Kennemerpoort and still dominates the townscape there. In 1884, the mill was bought by Cornelis Piet, who had a dwelling built at the bottom of the mill. The family name of this mill remained popularly associated with this mill, and the old name De Groot is hardly used anymore. The mill has been equipped with breeding sails since 1955. There are 3 pairs of grinding stones in the mill. The mill's king spindle is an old ship's mast and thus probably older than the mill itself. The mill is now owned by the municipality, but is still occupied and operated by a member of the Piet family.
