Melchisedek ("king of justice" or "my king is righteous"), according to tradition in the Hebrew Bible, was the "king of Salem" and "priest of God, the Most High" at the time of Archfather Abraham.
In Genesis, after a successful battle, Abraham (still called Abram in this passage) meets Melchisedek, who is introduced as king of Salem and priest of the Most High God. He brings Abram bread and wine and then pronounces a blessing on Abram and then on the Most High God.
