Pine trees and a finch
In breeding plumage, the male has a blue-gray cap, an orange-red breast and cheeks. The tail feathers are black except for the (white) outer tail feathers. The female is less conspicuous and is still sometimes mistaken for a female house sparrow. The most striking feature of the finch is the two white wing stripes. This is also the best way to distinguish the female from a sparrow.
Lein Kaland was born in 1954 in Vlissingen and started drawing at an early age.
