Pole vault poster The bar – world record 1912–2026

by Sidney van den Boogaard

This pole vault poster shows in one big arch how high the men's world record has ever gone. Every thin line is a record, and the heights are real: read them against the measuring stick from 1 to 6 metres. It starts low with Wright's 4.02 in 1912 and ends at the very top with Duplantis's 6.31, the light rim of today. The dark line just below is Bubka's 6.14: cleared in Sestriere in 1994 and not bettered for 19 years and 199 days, until Lavillenie in Donetsk in 2014. Warmerdam's 4.77 also held until 1957. Inside the arch are all 35 record holders with their highest vault and their years. Athletics wall art in warm brown and cream, for the vaulter, the coach and anyone who knows how high 6 metres really is.

This work is part of the Roll of Honour collection: sports history as art for your wall. Each poster is about one sport and shows in one image what happened in that sport, with every name and number checked against two sources.

Independent work, not affiliated with or endorsed by any league, federation, team or athlete; the facts come from Wikipedia and other public sources. A great gift for anyone who knows their sport's records by heart, and a striking sports poster for the living room, the study or the clubhouse.
