The Ponte Vecchio in Bassano del Grappa crosses the river Brenta. The area where the city has arisen has been populated since the 10th century. The Ponte Vecchio was designed by Palladio. The wooden bridge was built for the first time in 1569 and has been rebuilt in 1748, 1813 and 1948 after it had been destroyed (nature or war related destruction)
