Ponte de Lima
One of the oldest towns in Portugal, Ponte de Lima was founded on 4 March 1125 and the town was an important settlement on the road from Braga to Santiago de Compestella as early as Roman times.
Ponte de Lima has a beautiful location on the southern bank of the Lima River and is named after the long medieval bridge that crosses it. Even now, thousands of pilgrims walk across this beautiful old footbridge every year on their way to Santiago de Compestella.
