About "Porter's lodge in abandoned ICC Berlin"

by Jenco van Zalk

About the artwork

The International Congress Centre (ICC) in Berlin was designed by Berlin architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte. Materials used are mainly concrete, aluminium, glass and steel.
It is one of the largest convention centres in the world. The building has been closed for some time. There is talk of renovating the ICC to bring it back into use. One of the problems is asbestos. Every now and then, the building is open for a few days for visitors to discover the extraordinary interior for themselves. The chairs and other interior elements were specially designed for the building as part of a "total work of art".
In this photo, you look into the abandoned porter's lodge where you had to report to bring in things.
