I made this picture at dusk on a narrow street where a lantern glows and a baroque facade waits at the end. The air felt warm from shop windows, and the sky held a gentle tone that made the marble read as soft rather than grand. I was drawn to how the street invites you forward without hurry.
I worked handheld with a steady stance and a careful exposure to balance the lamp with the ambient light. Look for small details that carry the mood, like worn stone at the corner, a thin cable line above the alley, and the gentle curve of the pavement. I kept color natural so the scene would fit easily into intimate interiors.
The atmosphere I wanted is welcoming and close. For me it is about how Venice turns everyday paths into small stages where light tells the story.
