The tube tree (Aloe dichotoma) is not really a tree, but a plant of the genus Aloe, which grows and branches out until it has the proportions of a large pollard willow. Aloe is an African genus of succulents of which only a few trees are formed. The name quiver tree (Quivertree) is derived from the fact that the Bushmen (San) use the hollow branches of the plant to make quivers.
