About ‘Racing Roland on Rügen’ by Matthias Stolt

The Roland Express is one of Germany's last narrow-gauge railways. It connects the Baltic Sea resorts from Göhren to Binz and is a tourist attraction on Rügen. The steam locomotive with its green carriages is a really beautiful photo opportunity. I took this photo in Sellin before the train entered the station. I set up my tripod at the edge of the track and waited patiently for the train. It didn't take long for it to arrive, and so I was able to take this charming photo. I made sure that there were no tourists or photographers standing around in the picture. The photo was taken with a digital SLR camera with a zoom lens.

I worked as a freelance photo designer for 25 years. My focus was on fashion and advertising photography. I am also the author of numerous books and articles in trade magazines.
Before becoming self-employed, I worked in marketing for a large camera manufacturer, where I was in charge of public relations.

I discovered my love of photography during my training as a retoucher. This sparked a desire not only to edit photos, but to take them myself.
