Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) was a French artist known for his vibrant and colourful paintings. Born in Le Havre, France, Dufy became one of the leading Fauvists. His works are characterised by light brushstrokes, bold colours and a lively atmosphere. Dufy was not only a painter, but also a talented illustrator, textile artist and set designer. His art reflects an optimistic view of life and is often inspired by the French Riviera and everyday life. Raoul Dufy is recognised as one of the important artists of the 20th century who enriched the art world with his unique creative perspective.
