About the artwork

KRISHNA LEELA: As the name suggests, the playful Krishna took the clothes away from the Gopika women bathing in the Kalindi River. He climbed to the top of the tree and started playing the flute. Krishna only returned the clothes after the Gopi's had greeted Krishna with folded hands.

This print of the Ravi Varma Press, derived from a painting by Raja Ravi Varma, shows the evil of Krishna on top of the tree.

Krishna (black, dark, dark blue; Sanskrit for all attractive) is one of the most worshipped gods in Hinduism.

The women stand naked in the water by removing their clothes. The buttocks, backs, bellies, torsos and breasts of the girls are exposed and stand on this nude portrait.

All in all a sexy and sensual erotic picture with romance.

Raja Ravi Varma (India 29 April 1848-2 October 1906) was a celebrated Indian painter and artist. He is considered one of the greatest painters in the history of Indian art. His works are one of the best examples of the fusion of European academic art with a purely Indian sensitivity and iconography.
