A serene side portrait of a young woman with red hair as watercolor petals and butterflies drift around the crown. The facial planes stay clear against generous negative space, so the first read is crisp on the wall while color gathers along the temple and cheek in a gentle arc.
I built the piece from gesture sketches and value studies. Broad wet on wet passages set the main masses, then glazing and dry brush defined petal edges, leaf veins and the fine lines along lashes and lips. Transparent washes let the paper grain show through and small speckles add natural texture without crowding the silhouette.
The atmosphere is poised and contemporary. Printed large, the portrait holds strongly at distance and rewards close viewing with precise line work and subtle transitions of coral, teal and violet. It suits interiors that prefer clean lines, fresh color and nature inspired detail.
