On a misty morning in July, a pack of red deer was walking across the Veluwe heath. The sun was just beginning to rise and the deer were coming my way. Right in front of me, this young doe lay down in the heather. At the click of the camera she looked up, her head exactly sticking out above the heather. A low viewpoint of the camera gave the doe a sharp contrast with the background. The deer's eyelashes are visible. The background is white and calm due to the dense fog.
