In the Netherlands and Belgium, the term red wood ant refers to two species of ants that, as the name suggests, are red and live in forests. The species are very similar and both make aboveground nests, the well known ant hills.

Since 2005 I picked up my hobby again with the digital SLR camera and since 2007 I shoot with a full frame camera. Because of the many hours I spend photographing in the wild, I get to know the game and my camera better and better.
