Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

Beta feature. You need an AR-capable device (a recent iPhone/iPad or Android). The AR view is only an indication; colour, size and finish may differ in reality.

About ‘Retro Scifi Visions XVI’ by Alice Mako

Visions from a future past.

Depiction of a colossal stargate which shows a view of another world untold parsecs away. This mega structure is situated in front of a cluster of arcologies situated high up in a mountainous region.

In the foreground a variety of vessels are traveling to and from this portal, the whole cloaked in a thick mist set against a blazing sky.

Like all my work this piece is inspired by the commercial art of the 1970s and 1980s, specifically the science fiction and fantasy art of my youth as found on book covers/video game box art/comics/advertisements/movie posters/vhs sleeves etc. of those eras.

I hope to convey the sense of wonder and outlandishness that this "genre" imparted and continues to impart in me, a future that while sometimes a little bit on the spooky side was at least thrilling and, ultimately, optimistic about humanities endeavors and adventures yet to come.
