Ribbon Portrait Profile

by Christian Ovís

‘Ribbon Portrait Profile’ depicts two faces in profile facing towards one another. On the left is a head positioned higher up; on the right, a face set slightly lower with a long neck. Coloured ribbons trace the contours of the forehead, nose, lips and chin. Red, yellow, green, blue and purple run alongside and intermingle with one another. Between the faces and within the heads, the light grey background remains visible.

The noses come close together without touching. Narrow bands of colour around the eyes and mouths give each profile its own expression. At the top, the strips curl in broad arcs around the crowns. At the bottom, the necklines taper into shoulder-like curves and a shared low base. Light edges and dark sides lend the ribbons a sense of depth. The empty space between the two faces is an important part of the composition and reinforces their mutual focus.

This abstract portrait wall art suits a modern interior with graphic accents and calm base tones. In a living room, hall or creative workspace, the two profiles can form a striking focal point. Colourful accessories can complement the individual contour lines. From a distance, you mainly see where the faces meet; up close, the subtle twists, double lines and different colours become visible.
