On a cold morning at the Zandwijk Mill, near Almkerk, a thick fog hung over the landscape. The mill loomed vaguely in the distance - just visible, almost swallowed by the fog cover. It had been freezing and the frost lay like a thin, white layer over the grass and stones of the path.
That path led straight to the mill, inviting one to walk there, despite the cold. Everything felt quiet and restrained. No colours, no contrasts - just shades of grey and the pale white of the hoarfrost. The composition revolved around simplicity: the path, the faint outline of the mill and the stillness of the morning.
What appealed to me was the mysterious nature of this moment. You know the mill is there, but the mist leaves just enough to the imagination.
Do you see this image as a resting point in your home - or perhaps as an eye-catcher in a hallway or office?
