About ‘Rise of the Ocean’ by Franka Poulain

With "Rise of the Ocean", I wanted to capture the elegance and grandeur of the orca in a minimalist but powerful composition. The orca breaks through the surface of the water, a moment of movement and calm at the same time. The contrasting black and white shapes against the soft blue of the ocean give the work an almost abstract feel, while the raw brushstrokes emphasise the dynamism of nature.
