Sometimes I have to get used to my own paintings, but over time I discover their true beauty. Knowing when to stop is an art; going on too long can completely destroy the magic of a work. With this particular piece, a gouache on paper, it is crucial not to work too long. Otherwise, the colours will become dull and may damage the paper, which is definitely not the intention.
'Royal Blue' is a painting I had to get used to at first, but now it brings me immense joy.
